Forewarned is forearmed: ERSO`s digital twins will save money and time
16.02.2022
On the basis of the innovation center of the ERSO holding, work is underway to create virtual alter-egos of electrical equipment. Not only will they save customers resources, but they will also eliminate the need for Project Works systems.
The essence of the technology is that a 3D copy is created for each complex technical product. It contains the corresponding properties and parameters. And then the fun begins: the researcher can simulate various extreme situations, calculate the service life at maximum load, scroll through decades in just a few minutes. Artificial intelligence will give a detailed forecast and tell you exactly how long the equipment will live, as well as when maintenance is required.
For example, a furnace transformer, which is involved in metal smelting. Let's say something happened and it failed. Repair takes a long time. This means that several melting furnaces remain without work, as well as a rolling line. But with a digital monitoring system, it will be possible, using predictive diagnostics, to determine how long the transformer will work if nothing is done to it.
The technology will also make it possible to abandon PPW. The project for the production of works is a set of organizational and technical measures for the care, supervision, operation and repair of technological equipment aimed at preventing premature wear of parts, assemblies and mechanisms and keeping them in working condition.
Simply put, for each product, designers and technologists will make schedules for preventive repairs, without waiting for a defect to occur. The customer will have the opportunity to prepare: redistribute people, order spare parts, not take extra orders.

However, it is extremely difficult to model such complex objects and the processes occurring on them alone. Here comes the future in the form of an alliance of large corporations, many of which are competitors to each other. The holding is already cooperating with Rosatom and nuclear scientists from the science city of Sarov.
— If a tool appears (the same digital twin) that will tell us that the product will work for a certain amount of time, then we can spend less resources on this, — says Stanislav Lyapunov, director of the holding's Innovation Center. — This is savings, and, as a result, — an increase in labor productivity.
