Let there be light! How ERSO makes the city "smarter"

For several years now, the Smart City project has been implemented in Russia as part of the national project "Housing and Urban Environment". Digital services are being introduced into the urban infrastructure, which help many services to do their work easier and faster.
ERSO Holding is developing a technology to provide energy-efficient urban lighting. It not only saves the municipal budget, makes electricity consumption more environmentally friendly, but also involves the development of additional services. Mercury and sodium street lighting fixtures are used in the standard lighting system, and modern LED lamps become permanent low-voltage power sources into which other technologies and sensors can be integrated.
Thus, indicators on traffic congestion and parking, dust concentration, air temperature and much more are accumulated in one system.
"Smart Light" becomes a full-fledged communication channel, transmitting information via specialized radio channels. Such an intelligent system is the basis of a new generation city.
But serious financial injections are needed to carry out modernization. ERSO not only undertakes all the work on the technical side of the issue, but also offers municipalities cooperation within the framework of concession agreements.
- In the future, such a system pays off in a few years and allows you to save budget funds. But not all municipalities have money for modernization right now," says Mikhail Porshnev, head of the direction of the EPSM division. - Therefore, our company's specialists analyze the current state of networks and offer several financial models with the involvement of investors, including a concession. In order for the city to be able to completely close its financial obligations and take over the new system without consequences for itself within 10-15 years.
